Tinfish Trendwatch: Blue Suede Shoes

We all know how cool Elvis was, right? So when he sang about blue suede shoes, it was for good reason. Stylish and practical? We're all over that.

As an alternative to the harshness of black, blue runs the gamut of shades from the vivid ultramarine of these Vagabond Edie pumps to the dark navy of these Base London Catch moccasins meaning there's a blue for every occasion.

For Work:

'Florence' by Vagabond, £69.99
Make blue suede shoes work for you this season. Not as harsh as black and an alternative to brown, the dark navy blue of shoes like Vagabond's Florence wedge and Paolo Vandini's Taunton brogue are perfect for wearing with lighter office wear and a great way to inject a bit of colour.
'Taunton' by Paolo Vandini, £69.99

For Play:

'Tanum' by H by Hudson, £94.99
H by Hudson's Tanum is the perfect smart casual trainer for the summer, fusing the smartness of the suede and patent leather detailing with the springy casualness of a trainer sole. Dare we even suggest that you could style them out for more casual work days? Yes we dare!

Doing the same smart casual job is Lotus' Jenna low wedge loafer. We love Lotus shoes for their comfort and generous fit. Got wide feet? These will fit you a treat. The generosity of fit is also a bonus for those hot sunny days when you've been on your feet all day and they swell a bit before you can get your shoes off! We've all been there.
'Jenna' by Lotus, £49.99
Inspired to step away from black? Come and see us and step into our blue suede shoes!

All styles available online and in-store subject to availability.

Tinfish Loves... Fabe by FLY London

One of the joys of warmer weather is the explosion of colour and they don't come much more colourful than these excellent Fabe slipper style loafers by Tinfish favourite FLY London.

We love the easy style of them that manages to be casual and decadent at the same time. FLY London make shoes that are beyond comfortable and we can quite see these skipping around some palatial villa. We don't have one of those though but we think they'll look just as good in our office!

For that South of France vibe, wear them with palazzo pants and a casually tied silk scarf. Or for a more everyday look that still manages to be opulent, we've paired them with some super pretty trousers from Topshop and a luxe tux style shirt from Zara.
Floral jacquard trousers, Topshop, £45; tuxedo shirt, Zara, £39.99; Fabe loafers, Tinfish Shoes,  £78.99
This is a great summer look that will work for any occasion. Bring some glamour to the office or to a long weekend lunch.

Fabe by FLY London is available in store and online now!

Tinfish Trendwatch: Metallics

Metallics seem to come round in some form or another every Spring/Summer. This isn't a bad thing. The glint of sunlight of a well chosen metallic accessory is a very beautiful thing indeed. There's also something inherently luxe about metallics. They whisper of sun filled days on the Cote d'Azur, shimmery golden tanned skin and white swimwear that is designed for lounging, not getting wet.
Zoe in Iridescent Purple by Miista, £140
Metallics take a bit of a 60s sci-fi twist this season though. The key trend for SS13 is metallics that are holographic, futuristic, Space Odyssey-esque. Fashion as a whole has taken a long hard look at the 60s (again) for this season and we're quite excited about some of the more unusual colours and styles that are around.

We think these futuristic metallics look great with the sports luxe look. Mix up flashes of go-faster neon with a neutral palette of greys and white and add the final POW! with metallic accessories. We love DKNY for a great sports luxe look - look out for similar on the High Street from Zara and COS.

Tinfish Loves... Zoe by Miista

When we first saw Miista's classic Zoe Oxford shoe in the simply glorious Neptune print, it would be accurate to say that we a) squealed and b) instantly wanted a pair.

Sometimes shoe love is irrational and primal. It just gets to you. It was only afterward that we wondered what the hell we'd wear them with. We've gone for a Designer vs High Street approach to show two different ways to wear them.

Designer

Add a twist to classic 60s shapes and sorbet shades with this St Tropez inspired look. The embellishment on the Miu Miu top and the shape of the Paul & Joe trousers are very 60s. We're thinking big hair and a martini or two should be the only other accessories you need! On a budget? Look out for sorbet shades in clean, classic shapes to recreate the look.

High Street

Our High Street take on the look brings a bit more of a modern edge with clean lines and colours to contrast with the abstract softness of the Neptune print. The blank canvas of the khaki wrap round dress by Louche is the perfect frame for the Zoe shoes. The pattern clash from the Topshop bangles is a fun way of complementing colours without being too matchy-matchy. The pop of pink on the River Island bag lifts the whole outfit and will mix and match in with other outfits.

Tinfish Loves.... H by Hudson Horrigan

When we say we love these H by Hudson Horrigan ankle boots, we're not sure there's words enough to convey exactly how much we love them.

They're pretty innocuous looking right? That's part of the appeal. They will go with everything. The gorgeously rich bordeaux colour of the burnished suede is super versatile while the tan straps add a tough girl edge to these Cuban heeled beauty booties.

We've styled them up in three different ways to show off just how awesome they are.

1. Dressed down chic

Cotton twill trousers, £22, ASOS, Blouse, £25.99, Zara, Double buckle bag, £48, Urban Outfitters
This is a look that will take you from Spring to Summer in casual elegance. This is an outfit that can be thrown on and look amazing. We all need go-to outfits like that! Accessorise with a piece of statement jewellery in gold tones.

2. Festival princess

Chelsea Girl floral dress, £25, River Island; Barrel bag, £40, Oliver Bonas; Feather necklace, £16, Hannah Zakari
Be the belle of the festival scene in this outfit which will work equally well in the city. It's little bit retro, a little bit boho, a whole lotta of cool. Wear with tousled beach hair and a go where the wind takes you attitude!

3. Retro office cool

Zig-zag pattern shirt, £35, Joy; Zip wrap skirt, £32, Topshop; Satchel, £38, Warehouse
Add a retro twist to your work wardrobe by mixing patterns and colours. Add some thick colour blocking tights and this is a look that's comfortable but means business!

Need these boots? You can buy H by Hudson Horrigan instore or online for £144.99.
